PORTS Minister Vincent Mwale has said Government is still studying the budget that the Football Association of Zambia submitted for the Chipolopolo technical bench.
Mwale told Tv2 sports news that his Ministry is still consulting the Treasury over the Chipolopolo budget.
The Minister who could not disclose the budget figures FAZ has submitted said the Ministry of Sports does not want another problem of nonpayment of Coaches.
Meanwhile, the Sports Minister said preparation for the 2017 Africa Cup should begin with finding a Coach for the national football team.
Mwale said the Ministry of Sports is concerned with the poor results of national football teams.
He said FAZ runs football in the country and should provide answers to the poor performance by national teams.
Mwale said there is need to empower young people with life skills if they are to effectively contribute to national development.
Mwale says some jobs that are being done by foreigners especially in the construction sector can be taken up by the youth if they are empowered.
He has called on stakeholders to partner with his Ministry in establishing skills training centres in the country.
Mr Mwale was speaking when UN-Resident Coordinator Janet Rogan called on him at his officer in Lusaka.
And Ms. Rogan pledged continued support to youth development programmes that the Ministry of Youth and Sport is carrying out.
She said the UN will increase youth development activities under the new System Wide Action Plan-to be launched soon.
