Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya says Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Mozambique which secured qualification for the Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup of Nations was a perfect send off for Zambia’s beloved President the late Michael Chilufya Sata.

Qualification means that Zambia will return to the country where they started their journey to winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations when they were placed in Group A based in Bata along with hosts Equatorial Guinea, Senegal and Sudan

Kalusha told fazfootball.com in the aftermath of the match in Maputo that he was proud of the team which will be making a 17th appearance at the finals.

“It was a fantastic performance by the boys in honour of our beloved President the late Micheal Chilufya Sata. The boys did us proud and I would like to thank the travelling fans and all the people at home who have always had the belief in the chipolopolo,” Kalusha said.

Zambia qualified as runners-up from Group F with 8 points with a match to spare behind Cape Verde who have so far garnered an unassailable 12 points from five rounds of matches. Mozambique have 5 points while bottom of the group Niger have 2.

The Chipolopolo who returned home on Sunday morning host the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in Ndola on Wednesday.
